Though the Legion of Super-Heroes, with its abundance of highly
detailed characters, was never one of Swan's favorite assignments, his work on the feature
is nevertheless fondly remembered; a master of subtle expression, Swan made sure that each
of the dozens of teenagers who populated the strip could be distinguished not simply by
their costumes, but by their facial features and body language as well. Under Swan, each
Legionnaire was a unique character in his own right.
